Reading to Deaf Children – PDF Format
This in-person workshop is designed for parents and professionals, led by Deaf Mentors Erin Carino, Galinda K. Goss-Kuehn, and Christine Holmes, all of whom communicate in ASL.
The 15 Principles focus on essential techniques for engaging deaf, hard of hearing, and Deaf-Blind children in reading, specifically through American Sign Language (ASL). These principles help foster a
love of reading and language acquisition by making reading a more interactive and accessible experience. Participants will learn strategies that empower children to connect with stories, increase vocabulary,
and strengthen comprehension skills.
